Elegant rooftop terrace above the banks of the Rhine, with integrated objects of art
Situated immediately at the Rhine, the view to the impressive river is the most important vista from this rooftop garden. The spatial concept of the rooftop garden underpins the perception of the Rhine panorama and supports the integration of several spots for objects of art. Their placements follow certain viewing axes. The axial structuring of the spaces "flows" parallel to the Rhine and accompanies the gently flowing river to the north. The water basin integrated into the flat rooftop construction and the two flanking beds of plants are symbolic plays upon the river and the barges on it. They have been "loaded" with Irish moss.
The rooftop terrace features the following design elements:
- spots for objects of art in selected viewing axes
- flat, stainless steel water basin (height 9.5 cm) on the roof covering
- custom-made plant containers and bench elements
- natural stones as inlays in the invisibly fastened wooden floor covering
- planting of screens for privacy protection consisting of ornamental apple trees that look good all year round
- lighting scenarios that may be switched on and off individually
- hidden watering system for all plant containers
